Mega Journal

A mega journal is a very large open access journal that accepts papers based on scientific soundness rather than perceived novelty or impact. PLOS ONE (launched 2006) and Scientific Reports (Nature portfolio) are the best-known examples. Mega journals typically have broad scope, high acceptance rates (40-60%), and fast turnaround, but lower per-article prestige than selective journals.
