Open Access (OA) is a publishing model that makes research articles freely available to readers without a subscription. The main sub-types are Gold OA (published openly, usually funded by an APC), Green OA (self-archived preprint or postprint in a repository), Diamond/Platinum OA (free for both authors and readers), and Hybrid OA (subscription journal offering an OA option for individual articles).
