Preprint

A preprint is a version of a research paper that is shared publicly before formal peer review. Preprints are typically posted on servers like arXiv (physics, math, CS), bioRxiv (biology), medRxiv (medicine), or SSRN (social sciences). Posting a preprint establishes priority and allows early feedback, but it is not considered a formal publication. Most journals accept manuscripts that have been posted as preprints.
