SNIP

Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP), developed at Leiden University, measures a journal's contextual citation impact by weighting citations based on the total number of citations in a subject field. A citation in a field where papers typically cite few sources is worth more than one in a field with heavy citation practices. SNIP is the most field-comparable of the major journal metrics.
